Highlights of Qualifications

Thirty-seven years in the development of Training Flight Simulators, 27 of them with the U.S.Air Force. Air Force experience includes assignment to various capacities including Advanced Development Program Manager, Visual and Avionics Systems Branch Chief, Training Systems Division Chief and Air Force Technical Expert for Training Systems.

Played a key role over the years in developing Air Force engineering and management training system policy and concepts. He directed many in house development programs including part task trainers, airborne digital, film and video recording and visual system testing and breadboarding.

Consultant to various US Companies and the Swedish Defense Material Administration. More recently he has been an Engineering Manager for SIMTEC Inc. working on various studies and analysis efforts. He has authored numerous technical paper and reports on various flight simulation topics.

Analyses of simulator system and component requirements with emphasis on visual and force cueing systems.

Preparation of simulator/trainer proposal information, specifications and operational needs.

Analyzed and tested simulators/trainers performance.

Developed a systems engineering approach to defining simulator/trainer technical performance requirements based upon training task needs.

Conducted technology assessments using systems engineering principals for Simulator for Electronic Combat (SEC), Low Altitude Training in USAFE, Joint Primary Aircraft Training System and Army SOF Helicopter Simulator Visual/FLIR Systems.

Performed technical analysis and assisted in Discovery and Deposition Process and acted as Expert Witness in court case involving a simulator acquisition law suit.

Conducted visual system evaluations (Vis Eval) for USAF.

Directed the development of methods of determining force simulation requirements for combat fighter aircraft simulators.

bullet

Developed methods for determining simulation fidelity requirements for combat simulation using engineering principals and operational crew expertise.

Directed an analyses to determine Distributed Mission Training System requirements for USAF.

bullet

Directed an analysis to determine training system requirements to support B-1 Aircraft conventional mission operational training requirements.

Education  Bachelor of Science, Mechanical Engineering, Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois. Completed USAF Pilot Training. Completed various management courses as member of USAF Executive Development Program and technical courses covering a variety of subjects such as computer systems, digital electronics, electro-optics, avionics, etc.

Awards Received various awards during  Air Force career including Scientific Achievement in the area of Flight Simulation. 1982 winner of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) DeFlorez Training Award for unique development work in the area of aerial combat simulation.
